Warren is a member of our Litigation & Insolvency team based in Bermuda. He specialises in all aspects of restructuring and insolvency including litigation, advising office holders, and advocacy. He has many years of experience in commercial litigation, particularly banking, financial, and corporate law disputes.
He is an expert in international and overseas litigation and arbitration. He is often instructed on large multi-jurisdictional disputes, focussing mainly on US bankruptcy (Chapter 11), insurance, reinsurance, and offshore trust disputes. His extensive courtroom experience ranges from urgent injunctions and applications to multi-week trials and appellate advocacy. His clients include top commercial law firms and barristers.
Apart from being an Advocate of the High Court of South Africa (1997) and being a Barrister of Gray’s Inn (2014), Warren is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FICArb) , the newly-elected Chair of the CIArb - Bermuda Branch. He is regularly appointed as Arbitrator in Bermuda-seated international and domestic arbitrations.
Before joining Harneys in 2024, Warren spent three years in the Litigation department of another law firm in Bermuda. Prior to that, he was a Barrister in the UK and published several articles on commercial and insolvency litigation. Having initially qualified in South Africa, Warren practiced as an advocate at the Johannesburg Bar for almost 20 years. He served as Acting Justice of the Labour Court of South Africa on various occasions, writing several reported judgments.
