Josh McVey is a member of the Digital Assets, Investment Funds, Corporate, and Regulatory teams in our Cayman Islands office. He has deep multi-jurisdictional experience and expertise in advising blockchain, fintech, and virtual assets projects from early-stage ventures to some of the world’s pre-eminent projects and platforms. Josh McVey is a member of the Digital Assets, Investment Funds, Corporate, and Regulatory teams in our Cayman Islands office.

He has deep multi-jurisdictional experience and expertise in advising blockchain, fintech, and virtual assets projects from early-stage ventures to some of the world’s pre-eminent projects and platforms. From co-founding a blockchain collective in 2017 to lecturing on governance and structuring best practices for emerging projects, Josh has established himself as a trusted advisor to clients through his innovative approach to solving complex client problems. He is also an active contributor to digital asset communities in the Cayman Islands and in the United States having previously practised in New York.

Josh’s Digital Asset practice involves advising clients on the life-cycle of transactions and projects including in relation to complex and novel commercial transactions, structuring and governance issues, cross-border regulatory considerations, and ongoing commercial advisory matters. Josh draws on his strong transactional background to offer timely, commercial, and client-centric legal solutions including anticipating regulatory developments and market trends. His clients range from DAOs, and Layer 1 and 2 protocols to regulated virtual asset providers, Web3 providers, DApps, and most recently, artificial intelligence projects.

Josh joined Harneys in 2023 having previously worked as a fintech and transactional senior associate at White & Case in New York and Walkers in the Cayman Islands before that. Josh is a member of the Cayman Islands Blockchain Association and the US Blockchain Association.
