The UK has implemented the Haiti (Sanctions) Regulations 2022 putting in place sanctions measures to meet its obligations under the United Nations (UN) sanctions regime relating to Haiti. The UN Haiti Sanctions regime forms a part of the UN’s response to the ongoing political and security challenges in Haiti and is targeting criminal actors, gangs and their financiers whose actions are causing instability in Haiti.
The Haiti (Sanctions) Regulations 2022 will come into force on 28 December 2022. The Regulations have been extended to the UK Overseas Territories, including the BVI and Cayman Islands, under the Haiti (Sanctions) (Overseas Territories) Order 2022.
