UK decision against imposing direct rule on BVI

The UK Government has accepted the BVI Government of National Unity’s proposal for implementing the recommendations of the Commission of Inquiry (COI) report, without the need for a temporary or partial suspension of the Constitution. We welcome the clarity of this announcement for the people of the BVI.

The key autonomous institutions of the Financial Services Commission and the Commercial Court and Arbitration Centre will continue to operate as normal, upholding the high international regulatory standards and robust English common law legal framework for which the BVI is known.
