Harneys is pleased to announce the continued expansion of its Asia practice with the addition of partner Charles Clayton-Payne to its Hong Kong Banking and Finance team this week.
Charlie joins the team from Hogan Lovells Singapore where he worked for six years establishing a leading Banking and Finance practice. Prior to that, Charlie worked at Hogan Lovells London for four years at the heart of the European leveraged loan market.
Charlie is an international finance specialist with a wealth of experience across industry sectors and geographies in the Asia Pacific region. He advises onshore law firms, borrowers and financial institutions on a wide variety of structures, including cross-border sponsor backed acquisition financings, capital call facilities, syndicated secured lending, structured lending, leveraged finance, project finance, aviation finance and debt restructurings.
Paul Sephton, global co-head of Banking and Finance, commented: “Charlie was a rising star in the Singapore market and we’re delighted that he has relocated to Hong Kong to join our team. I’m sure he’ll be a big success and will add further quality and depth to our market leading banking practise in Asia.”
Charlie is one of the leading banking lawyers in Asia and was cited in Chambers & Partners as an “Associate to Watch” in 2016, 2017 and 2018, as well as “Up and Coming” in 2019. He was also named as a “Next Generation Lawyer” by Legal 500 in 2018 and 2019.
Harneys’ expanding Hong Kong team now comprises 14 partners and 35 associates. The firm’s three full-service offices across Hong Kong, Singapore and Shanghai represent the largest Asia network of any offshore law firm.
