Harneys offers internships to students who are currently enrolled in university. We are committed to searching for exceptional individuals who wish to gain first-hand experience of practice in a leading global offshore firm.

Placements are offered in our Legal, Fiduciary or Business Services teams during the summer months (between June and August) which last between four to eight weeks.

Our professionals provide interns with an introduction to their practice/business area, as well as the practical application of how to think, write and operate effectively and efficiently in a professional environment. At Harneys, our professionals never lose sight of the fact that during their careers, people invested in them. Harneys is proud to announce the launch of the UK Institute of Chartered Secretary and Administrators (ICSA) Internship Program. The ICSA post-graduate qualification is an internationally recognised broad-based qualification that covers the corporate law framework within which businesses operate, corporate governance obligations, the company secretarial function, and financial management and accounting.

The programme aims to recruit at least one student per year with an exceptional academic record. Other considerations include social and community responsibility within the territory and BVI national representation in sports. The successful candidate will be offered a four-year training contract with Harneys. This requires them to work as salaried employees during the day and attend ICSA evening classes with the Financial Services Institution (FSI) at H. Lavity Stoutt Community College, an ICSA registered tuition provider. Harneys will cover the entire cost of the ICSA programme.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in all of Harneys Fiduciary’s departments, including incorporations, company administration, liquidations, trust administration, investment funds, and the corporate governance teams during the four-year training program. Once the candidate is in their final stages of the ICSA program, Harneys will aim to second them for a year to work from one of our offices in Hong Kong, Singapore, or the Cayman Islands. This will allow the candidate to gain international experience and exposure to various working environments and client cultures. The candidate will then return to the BVI office to join one of the Harneys Fiduciary departments, all of which offer career progression opportunities.
